Move beyond break fix
Move beyond break fix

Many MSPs struggle with the idea of moving beyond the break fix model. Today I want to talk about how you can use The Cloud to break this model and increase sales.

Limitations of the Break-Fix Model

You’ve probably noticed that that model has some limitations. When we started our MSP there was no such thing as managed services or cloud or anything like this. And the break fix model was what you made so, we’re very familiar with it.

First, it’s reactive rather than proactive, meaning you’re constantly putting out fires and it’s difficult to predict revenue and scale your income when tied to unpredictable client emergencies. So, what do you need to do? Well, by transitioning your customer servers over to the cloud, you can move your MSP from a reactive to a proactive model, meaning an unpredictable to a reliable model.

Transitioning to Cloud Services

One of the most effective ways to transition away from break fix again is by moving your client servers to the cloud. On-premise servers are prone to failure and hardware issues which leads to costly downtime for your customers.

Benefits of Moving to the Cloud

Moving to the cloud enhances reliability, improves security, and offers peace of mind with protected data. At the same time, you transition them from a break fix customer to providing continuous monitoring, updates and support.

Another advantage of moving services to the cloud is offering clients predictable, subscription-based pricing. This model eliminates the unpredictability and stress of unexpected major expenses in the break-fix model.

Moving their servers to the cloud introduces a predictable monthly fee covering hosting, maintenance, support, and security. It will improve cash flow for your customers and reduces concerns about unexpected downtime

Expanding Services and Client Base

Moving to the cloud doesn’t just help you break free from break fix. It allows you to expand your MSP services, offering additional options like disaster recovery and advanced security. For example, when moving services to the cloud, you can offer additional services like disaster recovery and security monitoring to protect against cyber threats. These add-ons not only enhance customer value but also increase your recurring revenue. They will see you as a forward-thinking MSP that’s always looking for ways to improve their environment.

The goal of moving beyond break-fix is to build long-term, profitable client relationships by offering continuous services that ensure smooth IT operations. For example, consider a manufacturing company reliant on its IT systems; downtime due to server failure can be costly, resulting in halted production and lost revenue. Transitioning to cloud services minimizes these risks and supports consistent productivity. Moving their servers to the cloud helped prevent issues before they started. It made and kept our customers happy.

If you haven’t embraced cloud as a core part of your service offering, it’s time to do so. If you’re not, I can pretty much guarantee your competitor is and your clients are going to thank you for it and your business. Your MSP is going to be better positioned for growth.

Conclusion

Join us in our journey to revolutionize MSP services through the power of cloud technology, and remember, as Mark Twain famously said, “Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did.” So, act today to future-proof your MSP.
