When I first started in the MSP world, marketing felt like this mysterious art form. Fast-forward to today, running Cloud Services for MSPs (after years of being in the trenches with my own MSP), I’ve realized the best lessons often come from outside the industry. One of my favorite examples? Coca-Cola.
Yes, the soda company! Their marketing playbook has some golden nuggets MSPs can absolutely use to dominate locally and grow more predictably.
1. Brand Consistency Is Everything
Picture Coca-Cola. What do you see? Red and white. The swirl logo. That iconic glass bottle.
That’s not by accident. They’ve been hammering home the same brand image for decades! And you know what? It works.
Now take a look at your MSP. Is your logo the same across your website, social media, and proposals? Are your colors and messaging consistent? Or are things a little… all over the place?
When your branding is inconsistent, you become forgettable—and forgettable doesn’t sell. Make sure your branding and core messaging are uniform everywhere—from your website and email signature to your business cards (yes, some people still use those!).
Can’t tell if it’s working? Ask a client or even a friend outside the industry. A little feedback goes a long way!
2. Market with Emotion, Not Just Tech
Coca-Cola doesn’t sell sugar water: they sell happiness and nostalgia! That’s why people connect with them so deeply.
But what do most MSPs sell? Firewalls. Cloud migrations. Patch management.
Let’s be real—no business owner is excited about their firewall.
What they do care about? Peace of mind and growing their business without tech headaches!
You’ve got to tell stories. Show how you helped a client recover from ransomware in minutes or how your team proactively prevented a week of downtime. Share those real wins! Bring in emotion, and suddenly you’re not just another IT provider—you’re the hero in their story.
3. Stay Top of Mind, Always
You can’t escape Coca-Cola. They’re on TV, social, billboards—you name it! That’s why they’re one of the first things people think of when they’re thirsty.
Want to be top of mind like that? You can’t just post on LinkedIn once a month or send a quarterly newsletter. That’s not enough!
Build a simple content calendar—weekly LinkedIn posts, monthly newsletters, maybe a quick local webinar or event. Consistency wins here: otherwise, time flies and suddenly it’s been a month since your last touchpoint.
So, ask yourself: What’s one thing I can do this week to be more visible?
4. Personalization Builds Loyalty
Remember the “Share a Coke” campaign? People loved finding their names on bottles. Suddenly, soda felt personal.
Your MSP should feel that personal too!
Use a CRM to track client notes. Send personalized tech plans or even handwritten thank-you notes. Segment your client list and tailor messages to their needs. When people feel seen, they stay loyal!

This week, answer each of these questions and evaluate gaps in your marketing:
- Is your brand consistent across all platforms?
- Are you using emotion and outcomes in your messaging—or just listing services?
- How can you increase your visibility this week?
- What’s one personal touch you can add to a client interaction?
Implement just one of these and you’re already on your way. Do them all, and you’ll be well on your way to consistent growth!
